Self-Advocacy Training

To prevent exploitation from others, individuals, whether independently or with assistance shall learn to assert their needs, protect their individual rights and advocate successfully in proper settings by utilizing self-advocacy techniques.

United Supportive Living shall assist each individual when dealing with and responding appropriately to governmental agencies and personnel, such as the IHSS application process. Our agency shall support the individual in their attempts to self-advocate. When needed, the SLS instructors shall role-play and counsel individuals on how to advocate politely and appropriately.
