United Supportive Living shall assist each individual in searching, obtaining and retaining their own housing to call home. United Supportive Living shall encourage each individual to have shared housing with hopes of reducing their monthly expenses and remaining within their SSI/SSA budgeting guidelines.

However, if an individual’s preference, behaviors or individual needs do not allow for shared housing then United Supportive Living shall meet with the individual’s circle of support to formulate a plan of action that would be most cost-effective for the individual.

United Supportive Living shall utilize generic resources in assisting the individual in locating and obtaining a home of their own. Such resources shall include but not limited to:

  • Applying for Section 8 in the individual’s desired cities.
  • Applying for low-income housing in the individual’s desired cities.
  • Applying for reduced rates with their utility companies.

United Supportive Living shall assist the individual to ensure that a safe environment is maintained. This assistance is not limited to teaching the individual to maintain safe practices both in their home and while out in the community. United Supportive Living shall utilize generic community resources as part of the training curriculum.

United Supportive Living shall also provide from least to pervasive the assistance each individual requires to maintain and more importantly retain their own home.

This assistance shall cover all aspects of home maintenance, home repair and the interactions required to obtain such services. United Supportive Living shall also assist the individual with their monthly budgeting, which includes purchasing and expenditures, thus ensuring the individual’s ability to retain their own home.

United Supportive Living shall establish relationships with various landlords with the hopes of forming and utilizing a network of landowners for our individuals to choose a place of their own. United Supportive Living shall not be financial guarantors when the individual obtains and secures a home of their own.
