Use of Public Transportation

Each individual, whether independently or with assistance, shall be able to understand all traffic and street signs, cross streets safely, call for bus information, utilize a taxi, Access Paratransit, Medi-ride or utilize a bus for single destinations. The individual shall be taught how to seek assistance when lost and know the location of local community resources (police station, fire station, etc.) within their community.

SLS instructors shall support individuals to utilize public transportation such as Access ParaTransit, Dial a Ride or any municipality’s specialized transportation program. A review of transportation services shall be completed on an annual basis during the IPP meeting.
